The popular A+ certification for PC technicians was established in 1993 by CompTIA

Service And Repair You Can Trust

As a CompTIA™ A+ Authorized Service Center Action Computers is a step above the ordinary. In a crowded industry, being an A+ Authorized Service Center shows our customers that we take computer service seriously.

We demand and employ only certified, knowledgeable technicians for our staff and at least 50% of those technicians are A+ Certified. We exhibit that customer service and satisfaction are paramount to our center and provide high quality in those areas.

The Computing Technology Industry Association. The aim of the A+ certification is to demonstrate a basic knowledge of supporting micro-computers. The certification is achieved by taking two computer-based multiple-choice examinations. The A+ certification is widely recognized in the computer industry, and significantly improves a technician's ability to secure and keep employment.

The course consists of two modules - a hardware module which explains the components of a PC, their configuration, function and installation in addition to providing a solid understanding of operating systems and the use of boot files, virtual memory, device drivers, TSRs, system errors and general system troubleshooting.

The second module covers Windows and DOS in more detail adding to the core module's foundations to ensure a proper understanding of configuration and boot files as well as covering the proper set-up and installation of devices to run in a Windows or DOS environment. The exam also includes a number of questions regarding system optimization including memory management, caching and power management.
